WHAT IS ATAR RANKING?

Besides receiving the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), students will also receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). This ranking is calculated on a scale from 0 to 99.95. For example, if a student achieves an ATAR score of 70, this means that the academic performance of this student is better than 70% of the total number of students in Western Australia who took the WACE exam that year. Universities in Australia use this ATAR Ranking for their admission selection process.

Most universities require a minimum average ATAR score of 55. However, in reality, there will be various ATAR scales depending on the requirements of each university. Students should monitor these requirements from their desired universities through the university’s website.
